Tee-Ball represents the beginning of a journey for your child that will hopefully last many years. The memories and lessons learned from being a part of the Town & Country program will be carried by your child for a lifetime. A child starts to learn how to play fair, understand the game and how to have fun in a team setting. And watching these children over the next 10 years at T&C will be one of the most rewarding experiences a parent can have.
T&C's Tee-Ball league is a single division comprised of 5 and 6 year olds where age qualification is determined on April 30th (click on the Player Divisions tab on the left side of this webpage and then look for the Player Age Chart). For the Fall Season, teams typically start forming and practicing at the end of August or beginning of September with 8-10 games starting mid-September through October. For the Spring Season, teams typically start forming and practicing at the end of February or beginning of March with 12-14 games starting mid-March through May. Included in these dates and for both seasons, a single elimination tournament will be played at the end of the regular season.
Each team generally has 11-12 players, both boys and girls. Players are placed on teams according to school boundary, zip code and/or neighborhood. Tee Ball is the only age division that we will accept parental requests. Please note that some requests cannot be accomodated due to logistic reasons (i.e. too many players on one team, no one has volunteered to coach, etc). Games will be scheduled primarily on Saturdays, but there could be games on weeknights as well. Makeup games are typically played on a day mutually agreed upon by the team’s head coaches. Parents should count on 3 baseball activities a week during the season: 2 games + 1 practice or 1 game + 2 practices each week. Practice days, times and locations are at the discretion of the head coach.
Tee-Ball rules are relatively simple with teams exchanging sides when one team scores 5 runs or 3 outs are made. The game itself is 1 hour long. At T&C, we emphasize that players must play different positions during the season and coaches should teach players to make the “right” baseball play. Scores and standings will be kept and a league champion will be crowned following the end of season tournament.
We are always looking for head coaches in all divisions of baseball (tee ball included). If you really want to help our program and help your player, please volunteer to become a head coach. T&C will offer free training to all coaches. Coaching can be a lot of fun and very rewarding.
Please check the main baseball website for updates to the calendar, including deadlines for registration, the scheduled player try-out and draft dates and when games begin and end. Please email one of the commissioners listed below if you have any questions that are not already answered in the "FAQ's" section located on the left side of this webpage.
Thank you for your support of Town and Country Baseball, now LET'S PLAY BALL!
